The Serbian Orthodox Patriarchate: The Traditionalist of World Orthodoxy!

By Subdeacon Nektarios, M.A.

According to many in World Orthodoxy—particularly among the YouTube Gerondas and spin doctors—the Serbian Patriarchate has long been regarded as a staunch confessor of Holy Orthodoxy and a firm opponent of ecumenism. Well, there’s little need for commentary. Below is a translated article from their official website, along with the photos they proudly shared on their social media accounts.

The Pan-Heresy of Ecumenism is alive and well within the Serbian "Orthodox" Patriarchate, a member of the World Council of Churches.

"His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Mr. Porfirije held a conversation on May 4, 2025, at the Parish Home of the Temple of Saint Sava in Vračar with His Holiness the Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Saint Mark Mr. Tawadros II, the head of the Coptic Orthodox Church (non-Chalcedonian), who is a guest of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

His Holiness Tawadros II had previously attended the Holy Liturgy served by His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije in the Temple of Saint Sava, with the participation of the local clergy. In a cordial conversation, the two patriarchs exchanged views on the life of the Church in times of tribulation; the witness of faith in the modern world; the position of Christians in Egypt; and the significance of the Resurrection of Christ as a source of hope and renewal. In his welcoming address, Patriarch Porfirije recalled the historic visit of Saint Sava to Egypt, emphasizing that the first Serbian Archbishop recognized the holiness of that ancient land and its importance in the history of salvation.

In attendance on the Serbian side were: the Right Reverend Vicar Bishops Mr. Aleksej of Hvosno, Mr. Petar of Toplica, and Mr. Tihon of Moravica; Archimandrite Nektarije, Chief Secretary of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church; and Protopresbyter Đorđe Stojisavljević, Chief of the Cabinet of the Serbian Patriarch. The honorable delegation accompanying Pope Tawadros II included: the Right Reverend Bishops Mr. Giovanni Ava Shenouda of Central Europe and Mr. Fam Ad Malak Sami Tadros Hama of Minya; Monk Emanuel Elmokharki, Secretary to Patriarch Tawadros; Deacon Yusuf; Mr. Basel Salah, Ambassador of Egypt to Serbia; and Mr. Ibrahim Hamza, First Secretary of the Egyptian Embassy" [1].
